RO System on hard Well Water?

My brother-in-law’s home is on well water witha sulfur smell and LOTS of hardness and iron. He’s currently visiting hisw parent’s home twice/week and filling carboys with city water from their spigot (for drinking /cooking).
I’ve thought of getting them an RO system for his birthday (the type that attaches under their kitchen sink). This is only for drinking/cooking water.
Does anyone out there have any recommendations or experience with these RO systems?

How to add a permeate pump to a Watts WP-RO4 system where the membrane and post-filter are integrated?

I purchased the Watts WP-RO4 system from Costco, which is the model that all filters and membrane are integrated in one piece. Now I want to install a permeate pump, but realize that it should be installed after membrane but before
the T-branch to the tank and the post-filter. However, since this is a one-piece system, such location is not available.
Is there any way to install a permeate pump to such a system?
Hi, Matt,
Here is the picture of my RO system with membrane removed: http://picasaweb.google.com/changfan/UntitledAlbum#5307947169654548738.
One the back, there is a tube at the permeate output of the membrane connecting to the tank, and another permeate output after the blue post-filter. Thanks.

Freshwater Aquarium – Reverse Osmosis System?

I am setting up a new 55 gallon freshwater aquarium. I live in an area where the supply water has a high degree of hardness. Is it worthwhile for me to invest in a RO water purifier for my aquarium needs? What are some of the things I need to keep in mind in selecting one? What are some good brands?
The aquarium that I am setting up now is for goldfish, but I will be setting up another one for tropical fish soon. So I will be sharing the RO system between the two.

I need to choose a water filter/purifier..but its a dilemma!?

I am in a DILEMMA!
I was going to make a purchase for an RO sytem from one of the well-known brands in India (Eureka-Forbes). When I booked an RO system, the salesman who came to my place told me that I do not need an RO (as the TDS level was around 275, and RO is recommended only for above 500).

Then Forbes has launched a brand called Aquasure, which is non-electrical, filter based model (it uses the usual candles and a new one called Razon filter… i dont know if i am spelling it right)… now this is a real cheap one…

But my dilemma is that EVERY other dealer I have spoken with, claims that there is nothing better than RO, whereas this brand says that I might end up doing more harm by losing some vital minerals if I put RO for levels of TDS below 500 …

What should I do??… pls help !!!
